About the Pandora
There is a new, very powerful Linux PDA on the market, called "Pandora".
This is a very special project, because it has been initiated and is driven by a bunch of normal people like you and me. The entire development is community-based and the first batch of 4.000 Pandoras, which is currently manufactured (as of September 2010), is completely financed by the community, i.e. the customers.

Hardware
The hardware specifications are impressive:
Smaller than the HP Palmtops or UMCSs, slightly larger than a SHARP Zaurus: 140mm x 83mm x 28mm
About 10 hours of battery life when in normal use (spare batteries available for a low price)
Clamshell design, as HP Palmtops and SHARP Zaurus. Full QWERTY keyboard
brilliant 4,3" non-glare touch-sensitive widescreen with a resolution of 800x480 pixels
WiFi and Bluetooth built-in
powerfull ARM® Cortex™-A8 600Mhz+ processor
2 SDHC slots
USB host interface
Software
The software is impressive, too:
The Pandora Linux is based on Angstrom Linux. It's fast and optimized for mobile devices.
A revolutionary system for installing software very easily has been invented by the Pandora developer team: PND. This is a one-file approach, similar to software installation on Mac OS X: You download one application PND file, put it onto an SD card, and the system automatically recognizes its presence and makes the application available to the user. No installation, no uninstallation (just delete the PND file to uninstall), and the operating system remains untouched by such installations.
Additional option to run Debian Linux on top, which opens up a wide variety of additional software ressources (e.g. OpenOffice)
I have made available some games and programs for the Pandora.

The three main ressources for Pandora software (mainly games, but also productivity applications and tools) are
Let me especially recommend the professional outliner "NoteCase Pro" as a productivity tool. It serves a lot of purposes, can replace a bunch of other tools at once, runs on many platforms, including Windows, Linux, Mac OS and of course the Pandora, and can be extended using third-party or self-written Plugins.
Gaming device or productivity tool?
The Pandora has been designed as an open mobile gaming device. Hence the Pandora has game controls, such as digital pads and analog nubs. However, due to the existence of a full QWERTY keyboard and touchscreen, and the possibility to externally connect full-size keyboard and mouse using USB or Bluetooth, and because it runs Linux and thus can be extended by a huge variety of productivity software, the Pandora is even suited for regular office work.
hermocom supports this platform.
