Project X

hermocom is working on a new project.

"Project X" is not the final name, but only an eyecatcher name. The actual name of the project is not defined yet.

There will soon be a totally new handheld computing platform with revolutionary specifications. My goal is to make this platform a successor for the HP Palmtops and for weeXpc. It will be a work horse, as the 200LX once was (and still is, for some users!), but with much more modern hardware and software.

The operating system will be Linux. The hardware specifications look very promising.
Here are some of them:

Smaller than the HP Palmtops, approximately the size of the Sharp Zaurus: 140mm x 83mm x 28mm
About 10 hours of battery life when in normal use
Clamshell design, as HP LX and Zaurus. Full QWERTY keyboard.
brilliant 4,3" touch-sensitive widescreen with a resolution of 800x480 pixels
WiFi and Bluetooth on-board
TI OMAP3530 processor with 600MHz clock speed (I have seen this platform in action. The user interface is impressively snappy and applications load in very short times).
2 SDHC slots, bootable
USB host interface
